Excerpt(s) from the book Namibian Wildlife - an alternative guide for the traveller on safari.

"Giraffes develop bony structures on the top of their heads, including over their eyes (a bit like bone created eyebrows that shelter the eye from the elements). This makes them unable to look upwards, but then again at that height why would they need to look upwards?"

"As you walk in the bush you come across many droppings made by antelopes. Though not an antelope, giraffe droppings have a similar shape and appearance but are a bit bigger (but not as big as you would expect). Kudu and eland droppings are nearly as big. Of course giraffe dropping fall from a great height compared those from kudu and eland, so if you are not sure who made the pile look at how scattered the pile is. Giraffe droppings will be scattered over a much wider area than an antelope’s droppings."
