  "The Latin name for the ostrich is Struthio camelus. As you might guess the camelus bit comes from camels. Both camels and ostriches are desert animals, accustomed to vast open space and not a lot of water. Ostriches and camels both have long eyelashes, a case of convergent evolution for desert living."

"As part of their adaptation to this landscape the ostrich has developed quiet excellent eyesight and is difficult to sneak up on. However he is not the brightest bird. This is reflected in an ostrich’s eye balls and brain. Both are roughly the same size."
