Starlings

Excerpt(s) from the book Namibian Wildlife - an alternative guide for the traveller on safari.

"These are all the starlings that people see on the regular tours round Etosha, Swakopmund and Sossusvlei. The starling enthusiast will want to head up to the north east corner of Namibia where another four species of starling can be found. These guys start to make you life complicated with tail shape and shades of colour becoming more important in helping to identify them."

"Round Windhoek the pale winged starlings will quite happily watch you shopping in Independence Avenue. They are easiest to identify when flying since that is when their big round pale wing spots are visible. Given their body size they also seem to have rather oversized wings."
